Breast Asymmetry Correction

While the exact causes of breast asymmetry are not well understood, it is accepted that hormonal changes, traumatic injuries, health issues, and, though rare, breast cancer can contribute to breast asymmetry.

Breast Asymmetry Correction

Breast Asymmetry Correction (Asymmetric Breast Surgery)

It is normal for women to have some differences between their breasts. However, when these differences are noticeable, they are considered an aesthetic concern. Breast asymmetry correction surgeries can address noticeable differences in shape, position, and volume between the breasts.

Breast asymmetry issues may become more pronounced during puberty, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Although the exact causes of breast asymmetry are not always clear, hormonal changes, traumatic injuries, health issues, and, rarely, breast cancer are recognized as potential factors.

To correct breast asymmetry, procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, and breast lift can be performed. The specific procedure or combination of procedures is determined by surgeons who assess the patient’s overall health and expectations.

What is Asymmetric Breast Surgery?

Asymmetric breast surgery refers to aesthetic operations aimed at correcting breast asymmetry. This may involve augmenting a smaller breast with silicone implants, reducing an excessively large breast, and, if necessary, performing a breast lift on one or both breasts.

Following asymmetric breast surgery, women can eliminate differences between their breasts, enjoy greater freedom in clothing choices, and regain their self-confidence. The techniques used in the surgery are determined by surgeons based on an analysis of the patient’s needs.

Breast asymmetry correction surgery can address various scenarios: a woman with both breasts small, one breast smaller than the other, or both breasts large with one larger than the other.

How is Asymmetric Breast Surgery Performed?

Typically, patients receive general anesthesia for breast asymmetry correction procedures. The duration of the surgery depends on the scope of the procedures performed on the breasts.

For a patient with one normal-sized breast and one small breast, a breast augmentation procedure with silicone implants is performed.

For a patient with one normal-sized breast and one large breast, a breast reduction procedure is carried out to correct the asymmetry.

Breast lift procedures may also be performed during breast asymmetry correction surgeries to address sagging issues. The surgeon will plan the procedure based on the patient’s expectations and needs.
